Field Trips
Museum of Modern ArtAll fifth grade students enjoyed their time at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. They were introduced to the museum first through the interactive child friendly website entitled Destination Modern Art.
Once they arrived, all students participated in a guided tour and learned about some of the most famous works of art by modern masters Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, and many many more! Afterwards, students were invited to create their own masterworks, inspired by what they had seen and learned from the museum staff. Everyone had a wonderful time in this world renowned museum. Each child also received a pass to come back with their family on another occasion. |
Gesualdi Art StudioStudents in art activity class were invited to Mr. David Gesualdi's art studio in Bethel, where he is in the process of sculpting his latest work, a full sized sculpture of Bethelite P.T. Barnum. This sculpture will reside in the front of the town's library. Students enjoyed learning about the process of creating an art work of this size and magnitude and how it will become a centerpiece that recognizes one of the most famous historical figures and Bethel resident.
