Dream Houses
Fifth Graders love to imagine and dream. So, asking them to invent and design their own dream houses was right up their alley.
We began by looking at different architectural structures of the ages. They studied those familiar to them, such as beautiful homes within our community. We also researched ancient dwellings, like medieval castles.
Afterwards, they learned how to create a 3-D effect, with a vanishing point. With a strong understanding of 1-point perspective, they were ready to combine their imaginations with their recent learning.
They were free to create a house with a realistic flare or entirely from imagination. The results are unique and fun, from graceful Victorians, to futuristic hubs, as well as those based on food and sports. Their homes offer an interesting look into the imaginative abilities of the children.
