Dual Portrait Alliteration Paintings
Fifth Graders were assigned to create two characters and give them creative alliteration names. The children studied many different facial features and how they work together to create various facial expressions. As a final twist, the children were invited to create a short story describing the visual scene at hand. These paintings allowed the students a chance to tell a story through their artwork.
The students spent time studying different painting techniques, using tempera paints. They also learned how to mix paints together. They studied the color wheel and learned about tints, shades, and color combinations, adding variety and texture to their compositions.
