Gadgets Galore
Fourth graders studied focused on the difference between REALISTIC and ABSTRACT art. The children quickly recognized letters, numbers, symbols, geometric and organic shapes that combine to create art. They then began to develop free form creatures out of large black paper. These were the printing surface for their abstract designs.
The children used appealing gadgets and were set free to create a composition with an assortment of original patterns and decorative gadget combinations. Using brightly colored paints, their characters came alive. Their results depict their understanding or the elements of art, including line, shape, and color.
