Congratulations to the following 4th & 5th Grade Johnson School students who were named district winners in this year’s Recycle Poster contest. The winners were honored on March 24, at 7 p.m. at the Bethel Board of Education meeting. All the children received a ribbon from Dr. Smith and Mr. Craybas, and were celebrated by school administrators, their teachers, and families. In 4th Grade, Amel Hilmi (1st place), Miranda Anastasakis (2nd), and Melany Villavicencio (3rd). In 5th Grade Julia Krepsztul (1st place), Erin Meier (2nd), and Sonia Goyal (3rd). In addition, Julia and Amel were also a regional winners and were honored at the Regional Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 23, at the Union Savings Bank in Danbury. Great job everyone, and thank you for the excellent participation!! On Wednesday, April 23, 2014, Johnson School's Fifth Grader, Julia Krepsztul and Fourth Grader, Amel Hilmi, were both honored at the Regional HRRA ceremony for the Annual Recycle Poster contest. Julia won 1st place honors at her grade level for the region and was awarded a certificate, gift, and a $75 money prize. Amel won Honorable Mention in her grade level, and received a certificate, and gift. Their posters were selected among 2,557 participants and 11 municipalities. Their posters and all other district winners are to be displayed in full color in Sunday NewsTimes. Way to go Julia and Amel !! Johnson School 5th grader, Lauren P., was honored today at the Annual Fire Prevention Poster Recognition Awards luncheon in Cromwell CT. Out of 20,000 participants, Lauren's poster was one of 32 County Winners, earning her a $150 money prize and awards certificate. Lauren, her family, Mrs. McCue, Mrs. Trzcinski, and Bethel's Fire Marshal Mr. Tom Galliford all enjoyed celebrating this wonderful achievement. |
