October is Fire Prevention, Safety, & Awareness Month

Every year students have the opportunity to create a poster design with the theme of Fire Prevention.  This is an annual initiative that I participate in with our town fire marshal, Mr. Tom Galliford.  
Fourth grade participates as an option, typically outside of the art room.  Fifth graders do the contest as a class assignment in Art.  So, if you notice your children talking more about Fire safety, dangers, preventative measures, creating a meeting place, practicing a fire drill...  My unit on Fire prevention may be why :)
